Whole grains including brown rice, millet, rye, wheat, corn, oats,barley, amaranth, and quinoa. The individual grains have various unique therapeutic properties.

Brown rice is considered the most balanced food, suitable for most climates and conditions.It is good for the stomach, intestines, lungs and pancreas. According to Chinese medical theory, rice is contraindicated during high fevers because it changes into glucose, which will further aggravate and raise the fever.This may , however, only refer to the use of white rice.

Millet is the only alkaline grain and can be tolerated when individuals have an allergy to other grains. It is good for the stomach, spleen, and pancreas.

Wheat is highly nutritious,soaked and slightly sprouted it is excellent to give as a calming sedative. Some, however, cannot tolerate the gluten in either wheat or rye and will develop mild to severe allergic reactions.

Oats are a good drain to use for low energy and fatigue. They are also healing for stomach ulcers. The bran has been recognized as been very effective in preventing and overcoming high cholesterol.

Barley is cooling, detoxifying, and soothing. It is good for helping to cleanse the lymphatic system.

Corn is good for the heart.Therapeutically,it will help to stop bleeding, promote urination, dissolve gallstones, and treat hepatitis. The silk tassels of the corn are made into a tea and taken for urinary problems. Corn seed tea can be used as a treatment for blood in the urine.

Quinoa are seed grains introduced from South American Andes, where they are a staple. They are higher in protein then other grains and well tolerated by many who are unable to digest the starches of other grains.
